|New features in iOS 10 beta 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7|
Here's a list of best new features present in the iOS 10 betas:
The iMessage App has received an update with new animated stickers. Classic Mac, hands, hearts and smileys are the four new sticker packs freely available to download. We're sure there will be even more packs available in the future, especially from third-party companies.
Speaking of messages, you're now able to send low quality images through the Messages app, which lets you conserve data.
You can now 3D Touch Quick Action items. This makes using the Quick Actions within your Control Centre a lot faster and easier. For example, you can now change the Flashlight's intensity with three separate levels of brightness - very handy!
Widgets can now work in a larger format. Previously certain apps, such as the calculator or calendar apps wouldn't display properly due to widget limitations. Now with larger widgets, these apps work a lot better in a widget-format.
As Slide to Unlock has disappeared in iOS 10, Apple has provided the option to simply rest your finger on the screen to unlock it. You can find the 'Rest Finger to Unlock' option within the Accessibility settings.
Folders are no longer transparent. With the first iOS 10 Beta came transparent folders. Apple has since gone back on its choice to make it transparent and reverted to a glassy look.
Apple have yet again brought back the iOS keyboard sounds from beta 1. After having removed them and reverted them back to the default iOS 9 sounds, Apple has decided to return back to its beta 1 inclusion.
A feedback app has been added, allowing you to report crashes and bugs to Apple. We're not sure if the app will be present after iOS 10 comes out of beta, but it's in there now!
Widgets in the Notification Centre are now accessible through the Home Screen. Previously, you were only able to see widgets through the 'Today' section. That's now a thing of the past, as you're now able to view it in both sections.
Haptic feedback on a manual lock, was aded in beta 3 then removed in beta 4.
It has recently been discovered by EverythingApplePro that when a lightning port with moisture is connected to the iPhone 6s, a warning is displayed. The warning suggests you disconnect your iPhone from the lightning port to prevent any water damage for occurring. We cannot confirm on what other phones this feature will work on, but we presume it will be newer generation iOS devices, such as the 6s and 6s Plus.
There is a new look on the Control Centre, making it look a lot more elegant on first launch.
You can now see a date within the Notification Centre.
Apple Music now features the star ratings again, a feature which was popular among some users. Apple have also replaced the headphone logo with an output icon.
There are new keyboard sounds, which make it easier to distinguish between pressing individual letters, the spacebar, return and backspace keys - as heard in this video by 9to5Mac. They have since been made louder in beta 5.
You can now quick-reply to messages through a fullscreen pop-up.
Faster animations have been reported by many users, making beta 4 feel snappier than previous iOS 10 beta builds.
There is a whole set of new emojis added and a few that have been updated, such as the revolver pistol is now a green water gun.
You now have a new lock sound, which almost sounds like a shutter sound from a camera, as heard on 9to5Mac's video.
In beta 6, there's a new look to Apple Music and News, new features in the Messages app and a new Home app for HomeKit. We've like to thank 9to5Mac for the description of beta 6.
iOS 10 beta 7, which is the latest version of iOS 10 and is currently available to dev testers only, adds no new features of note. Following on so shortly after the released of beta 6, it's understood to focus on a single major bug that's now been dealt with, but will also include a series of smaller big fixes.
